This year’s theme, “Living the Legacy: In the Footsteps of the Prophet (PBUH)”, was carefully chosen based on the increased negativity in recent times being targeted towards Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

“It was imperative that our convention focus on the Prophet (PBUH)’s life and teachings, examine his struggles and perseverance through difficult times” said ICNA Houston President, Faraz Khan. He added that the organizers hoped that the community “obtain valuable lessons and benefits to apply in our lives during these increased times of misinformation involving Islam”.

The convention presented a wide range of scholars and speakers that included Imam Siraj Wahhaj, Shaykh Yusuf Estes, Shaykh Saad Tasleem, Hamza Tzortsis, Mufti Hussain Kamani, Shaykh Waleed Basyouni, and others. Along with the emphasis on the life of the Prophet (PBUH), other prevailing themes included social justice, youth, and Da’wah (outreach). Aside from the main program, there were multiple parallel sessions such as an academic workshop on the relationship between the Qur’an and Science, a da’wah workshop, youth-only sessions, a bustling bazaar with a variety of vendors, children’s activities, and other engagements for the entire family.
