DALLAS, TX – December 31, 2015: DFW Muslim Community stands with the survivors of the recent tornadoes in Garland, Rowlett, Copeville, Lavon and other places in this great time of need.
ICNA Relief USA, a national non-profit organization, is working diligently with governmental agencies, local Islamic centers and churches and other relief organizations to bring aid to people affected by this natural disaster.
ICNA Relief USA has setup “collection centers” at various local mosques to collect critical items from the local Muslim community and will donate them to the relief agencies, churches, and affected individuals beginning this Friday, Jan 1st 2016. The entire DFW Muslim Community, local Mosques, and Islamic organizations are pouring in their support for this noble effort. ICNA Relief USA has also set up an office at Multi Agency Resource Center (MARC) and has begun registering clients who may need long-term help in their recovery.
Earlier this week, ICNA Relief USA – Dallas received information from the Area Manager that 196 residents in Hubbard’s Ridge Apartment in Garland were without food and electricity. The residents were living without electricity since last Saturday and didn’t have access to warm food; the food in the refrigerators was becoming unusable as well. ICNA Relief Dallas was able to quickly mobilize its volunteers and prepared hot meals for the residents consisting of pasta, chicken and rice along with dinner rolls, fruit, water, etc.
“We were able to bring smiles to faces of these residents after days of hardship and residents were appreciative of the good work,” Riyaz Lareef, President of ICNA Dallas, said. “This is exactly what Muslims are commanded to do by Almighty God. In this difficult time, we must stand together as Americans and as brothers and sisters in humanity.”
