—FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE—

NEW YORK, NY (March. 18, 2018) – The Islamic Circle of North America (ICNA) strongly condemns the ongoing bombing of Ghouta, Syria. Hundreds of innocent civilians including children, women and the elderly have been killed and injured in the past few days.

“We send our prayers to the families of the victims who perished, and those who are injured. In Syria, human life has lost its dignity and it’s time for people of conscious to stand up and oppose this massacre” said Javaid Siddiqi, President of ICNA.
The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, “Whosoever of you sees an evil, let him change it with his hand; and if he is not able to do so, then [let him change it] with his tongue; and if he is not able to do so, then with his heart — and that is the weakest of faith.” [Muslim]
We urge all Mosques to dedicate the Friday sermon to the crisis and appeal to the community to call their Senators asking them each to urge President Trump to intervene and stop the bombing in Ghouta.
We also urge the U.N. officials to take measures to provide immediate humanitarian aid to the victims and allow other relief agencies access to the affected areas.
We appeal to Muslim organizations to reach out to their interfaith partners to join us in condemning the murderous bombings of Ghouta.
