—FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE—
NEW YORK (Aug. 11, 2018) – The Islamic Circle of North America today expresses its deepest condolences to the family of 3-year-old Abdul-Ghani Wahhaj, who is the grandson of the renowned Muslim leader Imam Siraj Wahhaj.
ICNA offers its heartfelt prayers to the family of Abdul-Ghani Wahhaj and our Imam Siraj during these extraordinarily difficult times.
Imam Siraj also known as “America’s Imam” has been a tall supporter of Muslims and a well-respected voice of the community for the past 4 decades.
Imam Siraj has been a solid supporter of the Muslim community for many decades. He was instrumental in leading his Mosque in ridding the neighborhood of crime and bringing the youth back from a life of wrongdoing.
“ICNA has always stood by Imam Siraj and we will continue to do so in face of the despicable efforts to malign his good name by a few known hate groups and individuals.” said Javaid Siddiqi, President of ICNA.
ICNA supports and encourages the law enforcement to bring to conclusion the case as early as possible and justice to Abdul-Ghani Wahhaj. The law enforcement should also appreciate the valuable assistance Imam Siraj gave during the investigation.
ICNA also urges the public and the media to desist from facilitating the hateful blogs against Imam Siraj and the spreading of rumors.
