—FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE—
NEW YORK, NY (Nov. 8, 2018) – The Islamic Circle of North America (ICNA) expresses its strongest condemnation of the horrific shooting that took place last night in Thousand Oaks, California. The indiscriminate attack killed 13 including the shooter and a police officer according to the latest media reports.
According to the Gun Violence Archive, this is the 307th mass shooting in America this year. Such violence has occurred so often that we risk becoming inured to its horrors.
We are alarmed at the rise of cases of domestic terrorism and gun violence in our country. There should be no place in our society for indiscriminate violence at such regularity. There have been too many mass shootings in our country, causing the deaths of many innocent men, women and children.
ICNA urges law makers to address the rising tide of this senseless gun violence with common sense gun laws.
