NEW YORK, NY (September 27, 2015) – The Islamic Circle of North America expresses its deep sorrow at the passing away of Dr. Jamal Barzinji, a pioneer in establishing Muslim American institutions. May Allah Shower him with His mercy, Reward him for his dedicated service, and Grant him the highest rank in paradise.

Our thoughts and prayers today are with the Barzinji Family. May AllahAll Praises Be To Allah reward them for their patience.
With over 40 years of experience in the development and leadership of multiple organizations, ranging from business and educational to political and charitable, he will be remembered with a legacy of community service that will benefit the Muslim community for generations to come.
Dr. Jamal Barzinji served as President of the Muslim Students Association, member of Islamic Society of North America (ISNA) Majlis Al-Shura (Board), and a founding member of the International Institute of Islamic Thought (IIIT). For over forty years he was involved in the development and leadership of diverse organizations (business, educational, think-tanks, political and charitable), such as Mar-Jac Poultry, Safa Trust, Amana Mutual Funds, SAAR Foundation, Bank Islam Malaysia, Dean of School of Islamic Revealed Knowledge & Social Sciences of International Islamic University Malaysia and North American Islamic Trust (NAIT). He was a founding member of the Association of Muslim Social Scientists (AMSS), and the Association of Muslim Scientists & Engineers (AMSE).
Dr. Barzinji served as adviser and consultant to various educational, charitable and professional organizations. He delivered numerous lectures and wrote articles on various topics on Islamic Thought, Banking, Islamic Movements, Current Affairs, Education and Islamic Presence in the U.S. and Europe.
