ICNA Relief Canada is celebrating the successful launch of its Syrian refugee sponsorship program.

In Nov. 2015, the Mississauga-based global relief organization launched its Syrian refugee sponsorship program and pledged to sponsor and help settle 93 families to support the Liberal government’s commitment of bringing 25,000 displaced to Canada.
So far, ICNA Relief has received 30 families. One more family of eight people is expected to arrive in the coming weeks.
On Saturday, Feb. 11, ICNA Relief is hosting a gathering from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Maple Banquet Hall, 1325 Eglinton Ave. E. in Mississauga, to celebrate its sponsorship program with refugees, supporters and sponsors.
The newly-arrived ICNA refugee families are settled in Mississauga, Brampton, Milton, Oakville, Brantford, and Chatham.
The upcoming event will feature educational workshops (in Arabic) for refugees, a children’s zone, and lots of other fun activities.
Apart from community members, politicians, dignitaries and social workers, service providers including Canadian Mental Health Association, MAIG Centre for Diverse Women & Families, COSTI Immigrant Services, Polycultural Immigrant and Community Services, Next Steps Employment Centre, Toronto District School Board, and the Coalition for Persons with Disabilities — Employment Access are expected to attend.
Participants will also have the opportunity to meet and greet refugee families.
