—FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE—

SACRAMENTO, California (July 25, 2011) – The Islamic Circle of North America Sacramento Chapter is hosting an information booth at the California State Fair, from July 14 to July 31, 2011.

Volunteers with ICNA’s outreach project 877-Why Islam will be handing out free copies of the Quran, brochures and DVDs and answering questions about Islam and its teachings in order to clear any misconceptions about the faith. Over 400 visitors have already visited the booth, and more than one thousand brochures, 250 DVDs and 120 Qurans have been given away in the past week.
The purpose of the information booth is to encourage the public to search for unbiased information on Islam and to promote understanding and dialogue between people of different faiths. Why Islam also hopes to highlight the diversity of American Muslims.
The booth, located in Building C at C-302, will be open for 10 hours between Monday and Thursday and 12 hours from Friday through Sunday.
