NEW YORK, NY (Dec. 7, 2016) – Islamic Circle of North America (ICNA) is saddened to hear about the crash of Pakistan International Airlines’ (PIA) flight PK661, which crashed near the northern town of Havelian. The flight was carrying about 48 passengers.

Among the passengers was former pop star turned religious preacher Junaid Jamshed and his wife. ICNA expresses its deep grief and sorrow over the loss of these lives and expresses its condolences to the bereaved families.
Junaid Jamshed used his fame to attract people towards Islam. He was kind, patient, and humble against his critics even when he was physically assaulted by some people in Islamabad earlier this year. He was always appreciative of relief work by Helping Hand for Relief and Development (HHRD) and ICNA Relief, and supported their humanitarian efforts. “Junaid was sad when he was unable to come due to visa issues. Later when I met him he kept saying that it is his wish to do at least three fundraising programs for HHRD, but unfortunately due to various reasons, it could not materialize.” said Ilyas Choudry, Director of Programs at HHRD.
Indeed, those who have said, “Our Lord is Allah ” and then remained on a right course – the angels will descend upon them, [saying], “Do not fear and do not grieve but receive good tidings of Paradise, which you were promised. (Quran 41:30)
The above verse was recited by Jamshad when leading the previous Friday prayer in Nasirabad, Pakistan.
In the video below Jamshed explained in 2009 why he couldn’t make it to HHRD programs and the need to support organizations like HHRD:
