—FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE—

JAMAICA, New York (April 29, 2011) – The Islamic Circle of North America (ICNA) is deeply saddened by the wave of destruction caused by tornados and storms across the South in recent weeks. Nearly 300 are confirmed dead, and thousands more injured and homeless after a series of devastating storms hit numerous states.

ICNA extends its deepest condolences to the families of victims and we ask the Muslim community to pray on this Jumuah for those affected by the storms. May God help us recover from this devastation and unite us in an effort to help our neighbors restore order in their lives.
ICNA Relief is currently working with other faith based NGO’s and local Islamic centers to clean debris in hard-hit cities, and bring aid to hundreds of needy and displaced Americans. ICNA Relief workers have mobilized disaster relief teams in North Carolina and are currently looking for volunteers to travel to Alabama, where the death toll has surpassed 200. We encourage you to become an ICNA Relief volunteer by clicking here, or donate to relief efforts in the affected areas by clicking here.
