NEW YORK, NY (June 29, 2016) – ICNA strongly condemns the deadly attack on innocent civilians at Turkey International Airport today. It is yet another cowardly and ghastly act and this time it is Muslims who were mostly the victims.

This attack comes as Muslims are in the holiest period in the blessed Month of Ramadan. In these last ten days and nights, Muslims intensify in their acts of worship apart from their fasting. More importantly, it contains the Night of Qadr, which is better than one thousand months, and it is said to be the night in which the Qur’an was revealed from the Guarded Tablet (Lawh-il Mahfoozh) to the Baitul Izzah (House of Honor) in the lowest heaven. All over the world Muslims find themselves engaged in supplications and incantations. So the perpetrators of this crime could not be Muslims.
We pray for those who perished in this brutal attack for their forgiveness and for those injured we pray for their speedy recovery. We also pray for the families who have lost their loved ones. May Allah SWT grant them patience. We hope and pray in these blessed days that those who are behind this attack will be made known and that justice be swiftly done.
We call on the international community to stand with the Turkish people and the Turkish government as they recover from this atrocity and to help in whatever way to show solidarity against all forms of terrorism.
