Piscataway, New Jersey (January 31, 2011) – Islamic Circle of North America (ICNA), a grassroots- based non-sectarian mainstream organization of North American Muslims, has launched a TV Ad campaign in order to disseminate accurate information on Islam and Muslims, through its outreach project 877-Why-Islam.
The ad campaign, initiated in December 2010, will cover eight US regions through March 2011. The networks airing these ads in various cities are CNN, ESPN, MSNBC, Fox News, YNN (News) and Comedy Central.
“This is the most significant outreach effort we have undertaken on television in our 10 year history,” said Tariq Zameer, 877-Why-Islam’s National Coordinator. “It is one more step in our efforts to promote religious harmony, and the American values of mutual respect and religious freedom,” added Mr. Zameer.
The eight regions covered by the campaign are Dallas (TX), Syracuse (NY), Sacramento (CA), Bay Area (CA), Southern California (CA), Baltimore (MD), Miami (FL) and New Jersey. The ads will invite viewers to set aside stereotypes and explore the truth about Islam themselves, by calling the toll free number 1-877-WHY-ISLAM or visiting the website www.whyislam.org. Either service can be used to ask questions or order free literature.
877-Why-Islam, is an international Outreach Program managed by the Islamic Circle of North America having 35 chapters across the nation.
