JAMAICA, New York (January 01, 2017) – In a press release issued today, the Islamic Circle of North America (ICNA) National Election Committee announced that Mr. Javaid Siddiqi has been elected as president of ICNA for the 2017-2018 term.

Mr. Siddiqi succeeds Mr. Naeem Baig, who served as President for two terms from 2013-2016.
The President of ICNA is elected through secret ballot from among members of the ICNA General Assembly (MGAs) and can hold the office for a maximum of two consecutive terms. The president is entrusted with the responsibility of guiding ICNA and making decisions with input from the Majlis Ash-Shura (Central Consultative Council) and members of the General Assembly.
Mr. Siddiqi was the ICNA Vice President for Tarbiyah and the Chairman of ICNA Tarbiyah Department. He is currently the Chief Operating Officer for Helping Hand USA and on the ICNA Majlis Ash-Shura.
An Informationa Technology professional, Mr. Siddiqi currently lives with his family in Lexington, Kentucky. He will be officially sworn-in during the ICNA annual General Assembly in Orlando, Florida on January 27th, 2017, insha’Allah.
Mr. Naeem Baig expressed confidence in Mr. Siddiqi and prayed to Allah All Praises Be To Allah to Grant him steadfastness in leading ICNA and the American Muslim community. Ameen.
