Rabia Sindu, 19, right, and Onaiza Ahmed, 19, help distribute meat during an ICNA Relief Meat Giveaway at the Islamic Learning Center of Jersey City.
The Jersey City chapter of the Islamic Circle of North America will distribute 200 pounds of meat in Jersey City Saturday, an act of charity to mark an annual festival of Eid-ul-Adha.
Eid-ul-Adha, which was Oct. 15 this year, commemorates Abraham’s faith and his willingness to sacrifice his son.
Beef and goat meat, donated by Muslim families, will be distributed at two sites — the Masjid Muhammad, 297 Martin Luther King Dr. at 1 p.m. and the Islamic Learning Center, 180 Ege Ave. at 3 p.m. Food will be distributed on a first-come, first-serve basis, and is available for people of all faiths.
The Jersey City chapter of the ICNA has been distributing meat to families for six years in cooperation with the national organization, which provides services to victims of adversities and survivors of disasters.
