Islamic Circle of North America Expects Over 20,000 to Attend its Annual Convention on Memorial Day Weekend in Baltimore, MD, as Part of a Nationwide Campaign to Combat Islamophobia

(NEW YORK, NY, April 13, 2015) – As part of an ongoing campaign, the Islamic Circle of North America will hold a public convention at the Baltimore Convention Center on Memorial Day weekend to combat Islamophobia and highlight the universal message of peace and love advocated by the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ peace be upon him.
ICNA seeks to challenge the destructive myths regarding American Muslims that have pervaded the media and society in recent years.
The ICNA-MAS convention is open to the public and hosts renowned speakers with dynamic solutions designed specifically to address the issues American Muslims are facing today. Attendees are invited to learn directly from scholars of Islam and experts within various disciplines such as religion, economics, social work, psychology, law, and education. The convention offers a content rich experience with keynote sessions, parallel lectures, hands-on workshops, interfaith dialogue, matrimonial services, multicultural food, a massive bazaar and Islamic entertainment.
ICNA’s national campaign, “Muhammad (pbuh)”, includes a public service announcement campaign with 100 billboards across the country, over 100 educational videos, a Global Messenger Day, events in over 25 cities and college campuses, and interfaith seminars dedicated to addressing questions about the Prophet Muhammad and the Islamic faith.
“In this convention we aim to address how Muhammad, peace be upon him, instituted universal principles of human dignity, justice, fairness, consultation, tolerance and forgiveness, equality of individuals regardless of race or ethnicity, and peaceful co-existence among the nations and people of the world,” said Naeem Baig, the president of ICNA.
