(New York, Sept. 2, 2019) ICNA Relief is monitoring the situation and is preparing to respond once the storm has made landfall. The ICNA Relief Disaster Response team is in communication with state and local emergency management staff and its partners in National Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster (National VOAD).

ICNA Relief currently has 8 local Islamic Center partners in Florida opening to help shelter impacted people. Furthermore ICNA Relief’s local partners are working to prepare the community for this dangerous storm headed towards the Southeast Coast of the United States.
According to the 8 P.M. Sunday update from the National Hurricane Center, a catastrophic Category 5 Hurricane Dorian is pounding Great Abaco and Grand Bahama Islands. A slower westward to west-northwestward motion is forecast during the next day or two, followed by a gradual turn toward the northwest.
On this track, the core of Hurricane Dorian will continue to pound Great Abaco and Grand Bahama islands Sunday night and Monday. The hurricane will move dangerously close to the Florida east coast late Monday through Tuesday night. ICNA Relief is preparing to support mass feeding, and mucking-out and gutting-out, if and as needed in Southeastern United States.
