NEW YORK, NY (March 18, 2019) – The Islamic Circle of North America (ICNA), invited community leadership on the East cost from New York city to Washington, DC for an yearly opportunity to discuss issues of mutual interest and to promote it’s annual 44th ICNA-MAS convention in Washington DC.

These meetings were held as banquet lunches and dinners in New York city, Philadelphia, Delaware, Baltimore, Alexandria, VA and Dulles, MD. These meetings were attended by community leaders, Imams, religious scholars, board members, leadership of local and national organizations along with the secretary general and president of ICNA. Speakers highlighted the contributions of ICNA and it’s projects to their local communities and thanked ICNA for its vision and leadership.

The meetings highlighted the upcoming convention, but also featured several speakers focusing on current events such as the terrorist attacks in Christchurch, New Zealand. Speaking to the leadership, ICNA’s president, Javaid Siddiqi said, “People, across the country shared with me one very important role which ICNA has played in our communities. ICNA brings people together”. Other speakers highlighted the different projects of ICNA such its domestic relief services – ICNA Relief and its international relief services – Helping Hand for Relief and Development. Speakers stressed on the need to address the rise of hate and Islamophobia in our country.

“We must support and thank ICNA for the work it has done over the past 50 years” said one the local Imams. He continued to say, “Please bring awareness to this wonderful convention which attracts thousands of Muslims every year”.
