May 22, 2025 – Washington, D.C. — The Islamic Circle of North America (ICNA) expresses its deepest condolences to the families and loved ones of Yaron Lischinsky and Sarah Milgrim, who were tragically killed in a targeted shooting outside the Capital Jewish Museum on the evening of May 21. These killings, along with the deliberate starvation of civilians in Gaza, are pushing the boundaries of human conscience. As images and reports of devastation continue to emerge, people around the world are losing hope in our shared humanity.

We are witnessing extreme violence giving rise to further violence. When powerful governments and institutions appear to side with oppression or turn a blind eye, they erode the very foundations of international law and moral responsibility.

The deaths of all innocent people must be condemned, without exception. Yet the violence committed by the Israeli military in Gaza shows no sign of ending. Collective punishment, mass displacement, and the targeting of civilian infrastructure are crimes that must not go ignored or unchallenged.

To genuinely combat antisemitism, we must also confront and stop the genocide of Palestinians. Upholding the rights and dignity of one group can never come at the cost of another’s annihilation. Justice and peace are inseparable, and both require that we speak out against all forms of violence and oppression.

We call on world leaders, international organizations, and civil society to take urgent and concrete action to end the atrocities, ensure humanitarian access, and hold perpetrators accountable.
