As COVID-19 spreads like wildfire in our communities, low-income families are struggling the most. The elderly are at risk. Self-employed workers see their businesses dry up. This trial is unlike any other of our time for many reasons, most of all, because it affects everyone.

ICNA Relief has been providing food, hygiene items, and financial assistance. Services include a transitional home for homeless women and children, refugee assistance, back to school giveaways, health screenings, family services, hunger prevention, and more.

Since most of their clients are hourly wage workers, the current health crisis has overwhelmed their economic status. They are running out of essential household items, including food, medication, hygiene & cleaning products. Since the health crisis hit the Chicagoland area, ICNA Relief served 147 families out of the Rogers Park Food Pantry; 119 families through the Glendale Heights Food Pantry; and 50 individuals were served a hot meal in Chicago’s south side through our mobile soup kitchen. Muslim Family Services assisted 34 unique clients; 46 clients received case management, consultation, mentoring, and household cleaning supplies. Finally, the transitional home houses four moms and their six kids. They are given cleaning and disinfecting supplies as well as groceries.

If the crisis extends over the next few weeks, they will certainly require more funds to fulfill their clients’ needs. They are looking for others who’d like to share the responsibility of assisting neighbors in need. Join us today! Donate: Volunteer:
