(Houston-TX) In unprecedented challenge of COVID-19 has hit the residents of 4th largest Metropolis of USA – Houston. The Pakistani community jointly launched its relief efforts. The Consulate General of Pakistan in Houston joined Pakistani organizations such as Pakistan Association of Greater Houston (PAGH), Alliance for Disaster Relief & others.

In a simple ceremony, observing social distancing, the Consul General of Pakistan in Houston Mr. Abrar Hashmi inaugurated “PPE Safety kits” to distribute at the “ICNA Relief Eid Gift Drive”. Present on occasion were Haroon Sheikh President PAGH, Muhammad Saeed Sheikh, Shabbir Hussain Ilyas Choudry, Nusrat laghari, Coordinator of the Alliance & Mian Nazeer in charge of the Distribution Center. The pantry is aimed at providing Safety kits to the needy across Houston’s diverse spectrum. Salute to all volunteers at the Pakistan Centre they’re working with fasting (Roza) in very hot weather but they know about it they’ll get rewarded by Allah and appreciate to all media people they covered program in hot weather and with pleasant mood.


The “Alliance for Disaster Relief” formed in 2011 and is an umbrella of several Pakistani Community Organizations in Houston. This includes Pakistan Association of Greater Houston, Houston Karachi Sister City Association, House of Charity, Ibne Sina Foundation, Islamic Society of Greater Houston, Islamic Circle of North America (ICNA- Relief), APPNA Foundation, Friends of Karachi, Pakistan Chamber of Commerce (PCC-USA), and many others. The Alliance, as it did in the past, is determined to extend other services to Houstonians during COVID-19. Syed Javaid Anwar funded the first tranche.”
